To guarantee settlers’ support Gantz pay no attention to outposts’ expansion

By: Madeeha Al-A’raj

The National Bureau for defending land and resisting settlements ( nbprs ) stated in its latest weekly report , that we always find that the settlers in the Jewish terrorist organizations are betting on the Knesset elections to confiscate Palestinian lands through building more settlement outposts facilitated by the occupation army in the Hebron city as they erected a number of mobile houses, in Tulkarm city near the ‘Anab settlement’, and in the Bethlehem in the ‘Gush Etzion settlement bloc’ in preparation for converting them into outposts.

For its part, the ‘Peace Now Movement’ called on the Israeli Army Minister Benny Gantz to order the dismantling of those outposts, otherwise, it is an attempt to appease Sa’ar and Matan Kahane and the ultra-Orthodox parties such as, Justice Minister and Head of the ‘New Hope Party’, Gideon Sa’ar and the former leading minister of religions in the Yamina party, Matan Kahane, who are partners with Gantz in the ‘national camp bloc’ in the upcoming Knesset elections next November.

On the other hand, the Israeli anti-settlement organization, Ir Amim, stated in a report that the settlement operations that took place over the past thirty years in the heart of Palestinian neighborhoods in the occupied Jerusalem, especially in Sheikh Jarrah, Silwan, the Old City and others, are ostensibly implemented by private parties, but they are based on government policy. Among the associations that obtained property from the occupation authorities are Ateret Cohenim and Elad Association, which focused all its efforts on the Jewish metropolis in the Moroccan Gate, Silwan and Ein Silwan, to become the richest and most trusted settlement association in cooperation with the government, parties and the municipality.

Within the context, under the title ‘Giant Project’ in the Qanawart Complex on the lands of Sur Baher, southwest of Jerusalem, the Israeli occupation municipality in Jerusalem announced that the Israeli ‘Azorim company’ won the special tender to build 434 settlement units on the Jerusalem – Hebron road, at a cost of NIS 1.07 billion. The company is scheduled to build those units on Palestinian lands, a large part of which is within the borders of Jerusalem occupied in 1967. The total area of the complex is about 7.3 donums.

The occupation municipality in Jerusalem also approved 2 new building plans to be deposited with the district committee, including the construction of a settlement building and a commercial center in ‘Beit Hakerem’ in Givat Havaredim on the border of the Green Line between East and West Jerusalem, and a plan to build a new settlement neighborhood below the ‘Ramot settlement’ on Lifta lands extends to the southwestern border of the village of Beit Iksa, north of occupied East Jerusalem.

The plan is located in the buffer zone, where a park and buildings erected by a settler will be removed near the village of Beit Iksa, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, near the bypass road 443, and the railway linking Jerusalem with Tel Aviv. According to the decision, 270 settlement units will be built parallel to the bridge at the top of the mountain opposite to the Lifta Al Tahahi village.
