Netanyahu to form next government with Ben Gvir and Smotrich

By: Madeeha Al-A’raj

The national Bureau for defending land and resisting settlements ( nbprs ) stated in its latest weekly report that , the government of the second coup in the Israeli political system has not been formed yet, but data indicates that Benjamin Netanyahu is on the way to forming it with Itamar Ben Gvir and Beitel Smotrich, leaders of the new-fascist parties in Israel. The first is a settler lives in the Kiryat Arba settlement in the Hebron, and the second is a settler lives in a settlement Kedumim in Qalqilya.

When we say the second coup, we mean Menachem Begin in 1977 and his repercussions on the Palestinian situation under occupation, were the release of the settlement devil from the bottle, as well as, what is expected from the second coup, which brought about the elections for the 25th Knesset last November, especially since Ben Gvir is at the head of the “Jewish Power” Party, and settler Smotrich, head of the ‘Religious Zionism’ Party, and both are haunted by the madness of asking, ‘Who are the owners of the house here?’

With Ben Gvir’s “Jewish Power,” party, Netanyahu reached understandings that made Ben Gvir a guardian of Israel’s expansionist settlement ambitions. He won what has become called the Ministry of National Security with expanded powers that allow him to launch a wave of settlement activities with government funding, whose repercussions are not limited to settling the situation of what they call it. The young settlement, and the conversion of the outposts, into legitimate settlements according to the laws of occupation, each of which enjoys local governance and is linked to a network of roads, water, electricity, large allocations, and perhaps the appointment of a rabbi in each of them.

These powers allow Ben Gvir to act as the head of a parallel government in the West Bank, reinforced by broad powers that put at his disposal the police, border guards, and the National Guard, which the outgoing Yair Lapid government decided to establish as an official militia for the settlers. With Smotrich, the features of the coalition agreement appear to be on the way to crystallization, with powers that allow him, too, to act as prime minister of “Judea” and “Samaria.” He decides what things should be like in Homesh, in Avitar, in Khan al-Ahmar and in the rest of the outposts, in addition to the settlements, by expanding the powers of his ministry to cover its fields of work, some of the powers entrusted to the so-called civil administration in the West Bank or Judea and Samaria, according to the occupation’s terms.

Within the context, Minister of Occupation Army, Benny Gantz, gave a description that reflects even the concerns of Israel and said that the coalition agreement that was signed between the Likud and the fascist “Jewish Power” parties, and the appointment of Ben Gvir, as Minister of Internal Security, and change the name of this ministry to the Ministry of National Security will have serious repercussions for Israel because it means ‘the establishment of a private army for Ben Gvir’ because the separation of the capabilities and powers of the Civil Administration between the Ministries of Security and Finance, and the exercise of the security force in what he calls Judea and Samaria between the Ministries of Army and National Security, may bring intense international pressure on the occupying state about “actual annexation” in Judea and Samaria without benefiting anything, in security nor on ground. This leads to administrative weaknesses and significant security weaknesses. The idea of creating a ‘private army’ for Ben Gvir in Judea and Samaria poses a threat to the exercise of force and will lead to serious security errors’.

Regarding settlement activities and plans, the outgoing government is trying to present itself as also sponsoring outposts and settlement activities. The outgoing Minister of the Occupation Army, Benny Gantz, spoke last week in an interview with Ch. 13 that he does not yet know who will succeed him in the position, so he confirmed his approval of thousands of settlement units in the West Bank and Jerusalem. He called for fattening the settlements, protecting the Jordan Valley and strengthening settlement activities a little, he added, ‘I did that, I agreed to 10,000 settlement units in the West Bank.

As for the data issued by the Israeli occupation army in a summary of its activities within the military operation called ‘breaking waves’ that began last March, Jewish terrorist attacks by settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank have doubled. Jewish terrorist attacks against Palestinians amounted to 838 attacks in 2022, nearly double the settler attacks recorded in 2021 in all their forms, including throwing stones and damaging private Palestinian property. They amounted to 353 attacks in 2020, and 339 in 2019.
