Tayseer Khalid , DFLP Leader , Head of the National Bureau for Defending Land and Resisting Settlements has described the decision of the American Administration – together with a number of colonial countries, especially, Britain, Germany, Italy and Canada, to halt funding to UNRWA for Palestinian refugees based on Israeli allegations ‘that 12 of the agency’s employees’ might have participated in the October 7th events – as an immoral act, which not only complicit with Israeli calls to liquidate the agency, and finish the Palestinian refugees’ issue, iron their awareness, and upbringing them to love their enemy, but also to deprive them of their patriotism and humanity in conjunction with the decision of the International Court of Justice – ICJ, which calls on the Occupation State to refrain from any actions in the war that entail genocide of in the Gaza Strip.
Unfortunately, Khaled added that those countries followed the Occupation’s lies on beheaded Israeli children and women stomachs cut off, and didn’t bother themselves to figure out the Israeli allegations at the beginning of the war, but rushed to promote such immoral and inhumane position, by imposing collective punishments on millions of Palestinian refugees, who live in areas where the agency’s work, especially in the Gaza Strip, who are in dire need of care, and protection from war crimes committed by the Occupying State that injured and killed more than a hundred thousand Palestinians of whom 75% were children, elderly people and women, and displaced more than a million and a half from their homes after they were bombed, leaving them vulnerable to disease, hunger, and cold, besides claiming the lives of more than 150 agency employees, destroyed their schools, work facilities, and the agency’s own services.
Khaled called on leaders of those countries, who blood of the innocent women and children on their hands, to withdraw their decision of halting the agency’s funding, and not to go along with the evil plans that call for finishing the agency and liquidating the issue of Palestinian Refugees, and to respect the work of this agency in accordance with the mandate given to it under the resolution n. ‘302’ issued by the UNs’ General Assembly on Dec. 8, 1949, with the aim of providing direct relief and employment programs for Palestine Refugees, especially as they are victims of war crimes that committed by Israel after the destruction of more than 530 Palestinian villages and the martyrdom of nearly 13,000 Palestinians.
Knowing that, more than 750,000 people were displaced from their homes to become refugees. At the same time, the UNRWA’s Commissioner General for Palestine, Mr. Philippe Lazzarini called for an immediate reversal of the decision to terminate contracts of any employees at the agency based on Israeli allegations, and to adhere to the mandate granted to it by the International Community, and not to trail the Israeli allegations, or give in to American and Israeli pressure aimed at liquidating the issue of Palestinian Refugees and their rights.
